There Are More of Us Than You Think

There Are More of Us Than You Think

One of my favourite things about Soul Submitted isn't actually the clothes.

It's what happens when people see them.

I've had people tell me they've seen Soul Submitted down the street.

At their church.

In a shopping centre.

On someone they've never met.

And every time I hear it, I think the same thing.

There are more of us than we realise.

That's the beautiful thing about community.

You don't always know it's there until you see it.

Think about the last time you travelled somewhere and suddenly heard someone speaking with an

Australian accent.

You didn't know them.

You didn't know anything about them.

But immediately there was something familiar.

Same thing happens with clothing.

We notice people who look like us.

People wearing things that represent something we care about.

And suddenly there is a connection.

I've experienced this myself.

I was wearing a “Jesus Saves” shirt and someone called out to me.

Instantly, everyone around us looked.

Which was slightly amusing.

But what I loved was the recognition.

They saw something they understood.

And I think that's what we're creating through Soul Submitted.

Not just a customer base.

A community.

People who have different personalities, different stories, different lives, different struggles, different

denominations, different ways of expressing themselves...

But who have this one thing in common.

Jesus.

And there is something really powerful about being reminded that you're not alone.

Sometimes we can feel like we're the only one.

The only Christian in the workplace.

The only person in our friendship group.

The only one trying to live according to a particular set of values.

The only one who believes that Jesus is actually relevant to everyday life.

Then you see someone wearing a shirt that says something you believe too.

And for a second, you realise:

Oh.

There's more of us.

That's why I don't see Soul Submitted as simply a clothing brand.

I see it as a way of creating little moments of connection.

A nod.

A smile.

A conversation.

A “where did you get that?”

A “I love your shirt.”

And maybe that's where you come in.

If you've ever wanted to wear your faith a little more boldly, maybe there's a Soul Submitted piece with your name on it.

Sometimes that's all it takes.

And who knows where a conversation can go from there?

Keep going,
Adele x
